One tire got punctured on my 2023 Tesla Model Y long range AWD Dual motor. The tires have16300miles on them. Had the car towed to Costco. Costco only have Michelin tires and cannot match the original Continental tires. Initially, I asked them to replace a pair of tires (Michelin tires). But later they called me saying they have to replace all 4 tires and cannot mix the tires. If I only want to replace two tires, I will have to sign a waiver. Four tires at $1300. (originally, two tires cost $660)
Then I called Tesla road side assistance and they replaced the punctured tire which costed me $460. The question is: Do I need to change the other tire to make the pair of tires on the rear are both new tires? Do I also need to do alignment and balancing?
Tire shaving is not an option: I have already driven the new tire for several miles; the tire shaving shop said they can only shave brand new tires. Also shaving a tire costs $180 which is just $210 different from installing another new tire in a local tire shop (total cost $390).
Never thought of getting a punctured tire can lead to so much trouble. Can any people share any experience on if I can only replace one tire (460$)? Or I have to replace a pair of tires (total: $950)? Or I replace all 4 tires at Costco (total $1300)?
