visited a local tire shop in Centreville because I had a flat tire. Since I didn't really know about cars/tires well, the workers didn't seem to really care. I had to replace 3 tires(one in front and 2 rears) and they quoted $1500. I first thought it was ridiculous for 3 tire replacement so I only asked for a single. They quoted $500 including labor fee. Is this reasonable for single tire replacement?

Here is the breakdown

Continental Procontact Rx size 23540R19: ~$440Labor: ~$30

The two rears are also wearing out and need to get em replaced soon. Should I visit this place again?

You're probably better off replacing all 4 at that point. Did you check directly with Tesla? It wouldn't hurt to shop around with different tire shops. I've heard some people get their tires from Costco.

FYI you can get a full set of Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 for less than $950 installed at Costco right now.

Can confirm—just put dws06 on the Tesla 3 and they rock. Total cost was right at 950 including install. Got them from tire rack and shipped to a local installer

the idea of an energy efficient car running 19's is crazy. So much extra rotating mass without considering the replacement cost, just for looks. i'd look at an 18" wheel and tire package from Tirerack just on principle alone. (principal?) You could get absolutely phenomenal tires for 18" wheels for $250/each. Then sell the stock 19's on FB marketplace.

Tirerack which is usually a great price sells that for $322 for the low-resistance version. But you also need to have it shipped which takes time. See if they’ll match the tirerack price

Good quality tires for the Tesla Model 3 are normally ~$280-~$450 a tire + labor. Manufacturers normally recommend replacing all 4 tires so the diameter is uniform along with the tread pattern working at maximum efficiency. Either way you would want to make sure they are the same brand and are ok to go with your Tesla which you can lookup compatible tires on TireRack.

For that specific tire it can be found at Walmart for $284.57. BMW charges $45.00/tire, so the $30 is not bad. Though overall, if you were to replace all tires it should come out to $345 to at most $360 (including cost of tire + labor) to include a reasonable profit margins per tire.

The shop you went to is trying to get about a 35% - 40% profit margin out of you. Where BMW and others would only be around 20% to 30%.

Unless they offered full sauna service and a steak dinner I would have to say it is not worth it.

That likely is not true with a dual motor model, and regular rotation of tires, which Tesla recommends.

Yeah, they’re trying to get you to pay the Tesla tax. Shop around for better prices.

Compare against tire rack, they will have the lowest prices and some places will match. You also don’t need to get the exact same tires

Shop around is always a good idea. But for reference I have an 07 Corolla. 800 dollars for 4 tires at Costco. Last time it was around 500.

Go to Costco. As someone else said, you can get Michelins for under $1000 installed with a great road hazard warranty.

I got a flat tire on a road trip. Pumped it up enough to get to a Costco, was back on the road in 45 minutes, no charge.

Check the Tesla subs for plenty of opinions on best tires for your car.

I've had good luck with NTB on Rolling Road in West Springfield. They will work on a Tesla (not all tire shops will), and they seem to be honest and fair-priced.

And you really should replace the other front tire, to match the new one, unless the other tire is practically new. Always try to maintain similar tread depth on tires on the same axle.

I'm getting all 4 of mine changed soon, (this month) the estimate from Tesla Service is $1522

I've used more than a few brands of tires over the years, but having used Teslas I'm pretty impressed with their quality, control, and most importantly their road sound so I'm sticking with them. Though tbf that could just be the tech in the car making up the difference

But yeah your experience that's a bit over the top, +500 over a full set is pretty egregious

I'd not be giving them any future business. I'd buy the tools to do it myself if the difference were that high frankly
