For a few weeks now, a software update has been causing Tesla has been causing trouble among drivers. Error messages in the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) particularly unsettled owners of Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y. But now the all-clear has finally been given: With the new update 2024.44.x has Tesla fixed the problem and the sensors are working properly again.

What was the problem?
After installing the update 2024.38.4+ many Tesla-drivers experienced error messages indicating problems with the BLE tire pressure sensors indicated. The error code "VCSEC_a222" was frequently reported. This affected both the original Tesla-sensors as well as aftermarket models.

Background to the problem:
Tesla had the reporting interval of the sensors increased. The tire pressure sensors now had to transmit the current pressure more frequently. If this was not fulfilled on time, the software triggered an error message, even though the sensors were working perfectly from a technical point of view.

The solution: Update 2024.44.x
With the published update 2024.44.x has Tesla fixed the problem on the software side. User reports from the TFF forum confirm that the tire pressure sensors are now working normally again. It is therefore no longer necessary to remove or replace the sensors.

Anyone seen this code? Car wont charge. Sounds like some device near the front is trying to run. Can get it to charge sometimes if we power the car totally of, but this is really alarming.

I have made an appointment, but is not till next week. I asked if they could respond on the app or mobile to diagnose the code, but haven't heard anything.

FIXED EDIT: If you are getting this code, just bite the bullet and get a new mobile charger.

answer list:

Im having the same issue. I don’t know if it’s the whole mobile charger or just the detachable plug at the end of the charger. I don’t want to spend the $45 just to find out I need to spend the $200+ for a whole new charger or vice versa.

My Model 3 RWD LR ended up having a problem with one of the 16 amp connections on the PCS. It would charge at 32 amps (since 2 of the 3 connections were working) but unable to charge and gave error message at 33 amps and above. Car is at the SC now, and estimate to fix is $1800 since car has 50K miles and is outside of warranty. They don't consider the PCS a part of the battery warranty since it is not the actual battery pack or the drive train. I am negotiating. Anyone else had this situation?

Ive had this code pop up a few times and then the vehicle may not restart, the first time this happened the vehicle did indeed not restart and they replaced the rear drive unit because they said coolant leaked through the motor some how, this was replaced under warranty, this same warning has now happened again along with reduced power, so i had it towed in there again and now this is what they are saying , there quote is $1470 for a guess, this dosnt sound fair.any ideas?

My advice; keep checking the app for sooner appointments. I had this fixed today in my 16 X, was shocked that my original appointment was over two weeks out, kept looking for reschedules and found one for today (9 days wait) and they replaced the HV cooling system in about 7 hours.

Good luck OP.

The PTC heater is also part of the battery and car's thermal management system. Just like when the chiller goes down for cooling, the PTC I assume could throw a critical error. I am still learning though.

VCSEC_a222 tire pressure monitoring system fault

answer list:

This is a common problem since the 2024.38.4+ version.

Tesla patched some VCSEC / BLE vulnerability (https://www.synacktiv.com/sites/default/files/2024-10/hexacon_0_click_rce_on_tesla_model_3_through_tpms_sensors_light.pdf) and as a side effect the sensors loose sync with the car. 2024.38.7 seems to help for some users, but this definitely is not the solution yet.

We've had our Model 3 71 plate for about 2 months now; first electric car nevermind first Tesla.

I been reading loads of posts about people smuggly going out to their preheated cars while their neighbours are scraping their windshields etc but, while the preheat is amazing, the outside of the car has been frozen pretty much every morning this week.

Temps around-6⁰ where i live mean I've been heating the car and trying the defrost feature but it's still been so frozen outside that I can't use the door handles or open the boot.

Inside of my car is toasty warm but I can't get in it anyway haha

Am I missing something?

Again, I'm a really new owner so all help would be appreciated.
