tesla Fogging windshield at random
This is the most annoying thing about teslas in my opinion. Randomly fogging up and taking forever to defog WHILE DRIVING!

This is the most annoying thing about teslas in my opinion. Randomly fogging up and taking forever to defog WHILE DRIVING!
Its just science. This isn't just a Tesla thing. It can happen from body heat or heat from breathing.
The air in your lungs is warm. As such it can hold more moisture than colder air. When we breathe that warm air enters the car which is usually cooler. The warm moist air condenses on the window.
The warm air from your defrost evaporates by increasing the warm air in the car - which can hold more moisture.
Don’t you bring your science in here!
😂😂😂
Ya think this person never drives another car?
Come Man. My 13 year Pilot doesn't do that. Let's not go overboard in coming up with some bs defensive explanations. There are some stupid things these cars (Teslas) do and still incredible in many ways..
Physics changes in your Pilot?
It doest fog up even when using the AC if that wasn't obvious in my statement!
It’s the copium evaporating
Brand new car?
Mine did it when it was very new. It was degassing from the plastic and vegan leather etc.
Defogger didn't clear it for me...
You need to wipe it with rainx wipes or just a microfiber
I have owned it since March of this year and have over 20k miles (bought brand new). I’ve cleaned these windows so many times already.
Ok then it's something else.
Do you have ac running?
Driving around without AC, windows closed does that sometimes
Well shoot, I guess I’ll schedule an inspection. I assumed this shit was normal. Thx!!
Mine doesn't do this, so it's not about Teslas in general. Could be something wrong with your car
When I turn the defrost on, it automatically switches to the front vents. I have to mess with it several times until it stays on the defrost. It’s been like this since I bought it. I assumed it was a tesla thing. Definitely taking it in! Thanks bro!
Did you ever get this fixed? What was the issue. I'm experiencing this too. It's annoying. I have a small squeegee in my car. lol.
Definitely your car's issue. Sorry you had to suffer with it for 20k miles !!!
Mine does this too, I turn off Auto, then hit defrost logo, it turns auto back on and starts blasting air out the front vents. Super annoying.
Maaaan…I just got done trying to mess with it. I watched some vids on the tube. You and I both have issues with our defroster.
Mine just started doing this. Did you ever get a resolution?
When I turn auto off, then ac off, I’ll hit the front f defrost button, both auto and ac will turn on. Then I can’t turn the fan down. It just stays on high. I have to mess with the auto and ac buttons several times before it’ll work how it needs to.
That's how it's supposed to work... AC is supposed to be on to dry the air.
Also note there are two settings tied with that button - a blue "defog", and a red "defrost". The latter is probably what's blasting your fan.
To be frank it sounds like you're not understanding and fighting the system, and the result is foggy windows because you're not letting the system work. If you think that isn't the case, post a video of how you're changing the settings and what the car is doing.
Is the fog on the outside? If so, the windscreen is colder than the dew point, and it fogs up. The defroster is trying to heat the outside of the windscreen, which is slow.
Try keep the car a bit warmer. The wipers help as well.
If it is on the inside of the car, turn on the AC to ensure the air in the car is dehumidified.
Dang that’s a lot of driving!
I know. Small biz owner (couple) we both drive thousands of miles per month in each of our cars. It’s insane the amount we drive but we had to get EV’s cuz Washington state is leading the nation in gas prices.
My 16 chevy colorado still does this. It is for sale so I can buy a Tesla though
Same happens to mines as well 130k km on it. I had the car detailed as well.
It happens sporadically, probably bc the car is sealed pretty good
You're probably cleaning them wrong. Buy a brand new waffle weave microfiber towel, clean the inside of the windshield with a 1:1 isopropyl alcohol and water mixture.
The condensation sticks better to impurities so a truly clean windshield will have a harder time fogging up
Don’t use rainx inside your car… will make your car fog up 10000x more. Unless rainx wipes are different from actual rainx
RainX brand makes anti-fog recipe too, but I've had limited luck applying it without a haze of its own.
I get the same issue, the most annoying part of when you hit defrost it makes it worse and slowwwwy gets better. With my non ev cars this would be cleared in seconds.
Did you ever find a solution that works? I'm thinking of bags of rice by the dash. I'm getting desperate.
Just set the temp of your liking, fan speed then leave that Auto button alone. Problem solved.
In my past cars that don’t have Auto Climate Control, this usually pops up as issue when the cabin in warmer than the outside temp.
Simple fix and simple science: turn on AC with circulation option to OPEN its should look the the sign with arrow coming into the car make sure its NOT on circulation closed which is sign with arrow turning inside the car.
I've noticed the Y doesn't defog as readily as our Honda did, it will eventually. It's more "hesitant" to turn the heat up because it burns battery I suppose - switching from auto to defog and turn up the heat fixes it more quickly.
Yup. Have the same issues too with my 23. Fogs up like crazy, even when I’m just grabbing food for like 5-10 mins and it fogs up. Super annoying
I have tried window cleaner, alcohol…what else could so possibly use???
I struggle with fogging too.
I have not had this problem and I live in a very rainy area. I use auto mode. My other car are often fogged easily. Don't know what setting you use? Note that the windshield could fog on the outside like other cars in some conditions in tunnels etc. The use the wipers to remove..
Do you vape in your car? My son was vaping in one of our cars and it fogged like crazy. Cleaned the windshield (and he stopped vaping in it) and it hasn’t been a problem since.
Fortunately I do not smoke anything. That would be a good idea tho.
Are you running clima on auto? Make sure your A/C is enabled. Condensation like that can be removed easily by the car by using the A/C, but if you have it off, it can't...
Mine also. Can be a few minutes after staring to drive also. Even with AC on max hitting just the windshield on cold won’t completely clear it.
Hellooooo.....it's called "air conditioning " for a reason
Do you have your climate on Auto, or do you set fan/temp/AC manually?
See comment above I believe (on phone).
Does this happen if you set it to Auto and 68 degrees? No other settings just Auto and set temperature.
What are your HVAC settings?
Never had an issue, though my climate is always on auto. Defogging works when there is fog too. Take it in for service if auto climate doesn’t help, A/C acts as a dehumidifier
Do you have climate and recirculation both set to auto? I almost never have fogging problems
If recirculate is on, it will always fog up eventually. You have to open the vent and AC on to quickly defog.
Clean your windshield, dust can hold moisture
Bro you need to release less heat.
Also turn on the defrost.
Try using a rag to wipe the interior film off.
Happens on any car. I would check for: wet hair (especially after a hot shower); wet or damp carpets (some shoes can trap enough water to drip while driving); wet umbrella (even if you rolled and put it away a day or two before).
A wet pet, like a llama or mini horse may also cause that.
Have this same problem. Super annoying.
