Tesla tire replacement?
So I got a nail in the tire sidewall, and I need to replace the tire. I went to a local pretty trusted tire shop and they are recommending the “Falken ZE960” with the specific dimensions to the prior Tesla wheel. He said it’s about half the price and is a good brand
Does anyone have any experiences with this brand or know if it is okay to use different brands for the Tesla model Y?
Where do you live and what’s your budget?
Michelin CrossClimate2 is probably the best tire you can buy for your buck. Capable in snow, but a true all-season. Not cheap, but a fantastic product all-around.
I had them on my Chevy bolt, they were fantastic tires and a great and all weather, they did cut the range a bit compared to OEM though.
As long as the weight rating is good, you can put whatever you want on there. What you "can" put on and what you "should" put on are 2 different things though. Some tyres are noisier than others and some are worse for range.
Yes you can use other brands as long as they meet the requirements. Tires are a safety first thing for me and not something I go for the inexpensive options on... so look at some other options (compare at tirerack.con). Bonus is the nicer tires often do better with range and road noise.
If you replace a single tyre then it might be an issue with tracking and balance but if you're replacing all 4 tires, then it should be fine.
İf you are replacing only one go with the same ones as the other 3…
