Be careful with these. If the light fails then this stops the window from being able to drop when you open the door, which can lead to smashing the window and/or damaging the outside trim.
It’s been so many years since Model 3 was released and I haven’t seen a single owner shared his data point about the puddle lights failing, so I think the failure rate is very, very low - almost negligible.

There's been a few instances where some cheap Ali Express ones have failed for members of our local Tesla group and caused some tears.
Yea I'm aware of the issue with 3rd party lights. I'm hoping the OEM one to be a little more robust. Not sure about warranty tho.

The company that made the car is Tesla, Tesla is also the company that made that specific puddle light; making the puddle light an oem part because it was made by the same company that made the car. OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. Hit me up if you need a detailed breakdown of how this all works.

You can get those from the Tmall/Taobao official Tesla store and ship internationally.

I did that from Canada and do not hold any chinese id. You just need a valid telephone number and Google Chrome to translate things to English.

There is the “Overseas payment card” option in the Taobao.app to pay with your foreign card.

It is not straight forward but did a combo of registering also in Ali Pay which I think it is easier to navigate since it has its own translation.
The tip is to add the card in the profile before paying. Adding the card in the flow for first timers will trigger a security check and will block your payment... weird.
Adding the card first will have it available in the app for selection and then it triggers your bank mfa which will approve the payment upon completion.

I don’t think Tesla manufactures any of their lights. All of them are purchased by suppliers. Perhaps you meant, “official Tesla accessory?”
