As the title says, I can't migrate my local driver profile into a Tesla profile (and have the benefits of cloud sync) no matter what. I gave access to my wife using the tesla app (under manage drivers) and she was able to do it as soon as she drove for the first time.

In my case I don't see the popup (in the lower left) area when I get into the car using my phone key or my regular key. I tried removing all keys, unpairing all phones, and phone keys, removing drivers, restarting display, logging out from phone, updating app, etc.

Tesla support does not include any troubleshooting steps for tesla profiles and their contacting support is barely impossible.

Anybody else having this issue? This is model 3, 2023 (February) running the latest stable software version. Thanks

Your profile can sync to the cloud - why doesn’t that work for you?

Update: after a month or so, my cloud profile showed up under drivers list again. I switched to it and deleted the local driver profile. Then I had to link the key cards to this profile manually. And that was it. Everything back normal. Happy to report that saved contacts / places were restored as well.

Did you follow the directions in the manual?

To set up your Tesla Profile, navigate to Driver Profile Settings and select your Tesla Account name. You can choose to set it up as a New Profile or copy the settings from an existing driver profile that you were previously using.

Maybe I am not understanding what you are asking

I had same question and no one in Tesla SC could help me.

My issue was that I accidentally linked/copied loaner drivers' profile into my Tesla profile when it was first prompted, and after that that button to copy from another profile disappeared, so I stuck with having my Tesla profile with some weird settings and my local to car settings that I used.

Tesla SC told me that the button to copy from profile was only enabled for the short time when the Tesla profiles were first introduced and then they removed it. I had a hard time believing this so I dug deeper and found a solution.

This solution would not merge your cloud and local settings, it is only useful when you have a good local profile and you want to copy it into your Tesla profile.

    Steps:

In tesla app - click account picture in the top right corner > Account > Tesla Profile

Tesla profile has single button "Reset Tesla Profile". When you click on it it will warn you that it will delete the profile from a car and that can't be undone. Again, if you don't have anything to loose on your tesla profile - click reset

In car settings - click profile name - driver profile settings. You will notice that your Tesla profile has disappeared.

In car settings - driver profile settings - click Add new driver

For the name enter the email address associated with your Tesla account

It will create a new driver, it will recognize the email and it will retrieve your name from the Tesla profile. In my case I ended up with two new drivers - one was the one I created with email, and another one that had my name on it from Tesla profile.

When you click on that newly created Tesla profile - there will be a button to copy settings from another profile - click on it and select the profile you want a copy from.

Check whether your Tesla profile now has copy of all items from that another profile, including music favorites, map favorites, seat/steering/mirror settings etc. If you're satisfied with results you can now delete other profiles that you don't need.

Don't forget to go to Locks and associate that Tesla profile with your key/smartphone.
