A lot of Tesla get t-boned by red light runners. Don't floor the juice pedal every time, allow others to make mistakes
Plan to set aside a good 30-45 minutes to customize all the various controls and services in the car. Things like setting your seat/wheel/mirror positions, signing into various streaming media apps, choosing your dock icons, setting drive mode settings like steering comfort and acceleration, phone key, etc.
Don’t post questions in the various subreddits without reading the manual or doing a quick search of Reddit first. Some people will chew your head off for doing so. I personally try to give helpful responses instead.
Don’t expect all the features you’ve heard about to be available right away. Cars typically deliver with an older software version so some functions may not be available until a few days later when you’ve been sent the software update.
Practice one pedal driving in a familiar low speed area like your neighborhood. Once you have it down I suspect you’ll love it. One of the controls settings is creep-roll-hold, you use the hold setting to get proper one pedal driving.
Be extra careful around curbs. The tires on a Tesla are fairly narrow compared to the rims, so they’re much easier to scratch than a typical wheel.
Remember it’s your car and setting it up, customizing it, and enjoying it YOUR way is all that matters. People will judge no matter what you choose to do or not do. Enjoy the car and wave good bye to the gas station forever.
Self control. You're going to want to buy more Teslas after LOL
Can confirm. 2020 M3P, currently (impatiently) waiting for new MYLR.
Just got a VIN!!
You will love the Y. Not as fast as your M3P but its a pretty quick big boi.
We’ve rented one a couple times and I’m really looking forward to the extra space!
Think of charging. Order mobile charger NOW, so you have it when the vehicle arrives. Or and install level 2 charger (if you have garage). Look into your power company to see if they offer deals on EV charging or level 2 equipment installs. Buy some accessories (like floor mats, organizers). Look into PPF or ceramic coating. Shop around for deal on APR ( if you are going to finance). Look into state rebates.
Home charger.
Insurance costs.
Get used to one pedal driving.
If you accelerate too fast, your tires burn out faster.
When it rains, your rear camera maybe blocked.
Know when best times to charge your car for best $$. Also, check your electrical company if need change plans.
Don’t apply for financing until you have a vin.
Download the app, sign in, it has all the tutorials you need. YouTube has great tutorials, don’t forget to inspect at delivery. Enjoy!

Check existing inventory - I had a YLR on order and then I saw a similar vehicle appear in the inventory and got a service advisor to move it to my order. Picked it up today 4 days later. Otherwise you could be waiting for months and you might miss the $7500 tax rebate.
Yeah, now you're the coolest kid on the block. Drive slow near BMWs , or they'll get mad.
Don’t get too excited, my Jan 17 order keeps pushing back and now shows April 6-May 11
Try to see if you can get Fremont build. I think quality and upgrades are different based on the factory it is built which is unacceptable though. I read if you select white interior you will automatically get Fremont build. May be wrong as well.
ADJUST YOUR HOOD HEIGHT IMMEDIATELY - It opens quite high and you will hit many car park roofs if you’re not careful.
